One Nation One Ration Card: Latest Update to Apply Online 2025

The “One Nation One Ration Card” (ONORC) Scheme was launched by the Department Of Food and Supplies and Consumers Affairs, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in 2018. It is national Ration Card portability scheme to ensure food security for all including internal migrants within India. Assam is the 36th State to implement the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) Scheme.
What Is One Nation One Ration Card Scheme?
ONORC is an information technology – scheme implemented by the Central Government for the Nationwide portability of ration cards under the National Food Security Act(NFSA), 2013. Driven The ONORC plan has successfully been implemented in all 36 States/ UTs making food security portable through the country. The government has launched a Mobile App Namely MERA RATION for acquiring the maximum benefit of the ONORC plan. The mobile app shall provide the user with real-time information. It is available in 13 languages. As per the official website National Food Security Portal (NFSP),there are more than 20 crore Ration Cards issued through more than 4.5 lakh POS enable Fair Price Shops. Present Status of One Nation One Ration Card
The One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) has been Successfully implemented in all 36 states / UTs enable food security portability throughout India.
Currently 5 Kilograms of food grains are provided to 80 crore eligible beneficiaries monthly through the NFSA at a highly subsidized rate of Rs 2-3 per kilogram.
The Centre also provides an additional 5 kilogram of food grains every person per month to 80 crore people through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna (PMGKAY) scheme.
The scheme will provide free rations to 80 million people until December 2022 for Rs 44,700 crore.
Progress of (ONORC) One Nation One Ration Card.
- The One Nation One Ration Card Plan was originally scheduled to launch Nationally by June 1, 2020.
- One August 1, 2020 it was introduced in 24 States / UTs benefiting around 65 crore people (80% of NFSA population).
- Efforts were made to expand this program to the remaining 12 States / UTs by march 2021.
- During the union budget 2021 announcement , Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that 32 States and UTs had adopted the One Nation One Ration Card, reaching 69 crore beneficiaries, covering 86% of the total number.
- The remaining four State / UTs were expected to join the program soon. As of march 11, 2021 , 17 States and UTs had Successfully implemented inter state ration card portability under the NFSA.
